Leadership Training For a Well Mannered Dog

Basic Level

Leadership skills will be taught by the use of dog obedience training.

Many distractions will be set up to test the leadership of the dog owner (handler).  Because individual attention is often needed to ensure the handler success, there will be no more than three handlers per instructor (trainer).  When necessary a trainer will be paired with a handler until the handler is capable of commanding their dog the specified lesson.

Pack-Training will alternate between ‘on leash’ and ‘off leash’.

The handler will know how to:

• Walk their dogs on leash without them pulling or resisting.
• Have their dogs stop and sit at heel
• Turn their dogs left and right and about turn
• Keep their dogs in a stay (sitting, lying down or standing)
• Recall their dogs from 100 meters away
• ‘Stay’ their dogs in the middle of a recall
• Correct unwanted behavior

Re-Homing Service

To find a new home for your dog we offer a number of options:

• A full assessment by dog trainer, Steve Harrison
• Colour picture and trainer’s biography listed on www.lastchancedog.net
• Screening of potential adoptive homes
Steve and Brandi Harrison will meet with you and your dog to do an assessment of his/her personality and to establish what type of home would be most suitable.
We then post your dog on our website for adoption with comments and recommendations.
As potential adoptive parents come forward we will interview them and pass on to you any that we feel may be suitable to adopt your pet. We will help you to make your decision based on the choices you have and can help to settle your dog into their new home if that is required.
